The Law Office of Christopher D. Hopkins, LLC is a boutique law firm located in Scotch Plains, New Jersey committed to providing the highest quality of legal services in the select areas of real estate, land use and environmental law. The firm is committed to working collaboratively with clients to achieve practical, cost effective results- whether it be in complex litigation, transactions, cleanups and/or development projects. The firm provides transactional and litigation counsel to a broad spectrum of clients including private and public corporations, trade associations, nonprofit institutions, banks, real estate investment trusts and individuals in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

The firm's principal, Christopher Hopkins, has substantial experience navigating the always fluid and often political regulatory climate facing clients today. Mr. Hopkins honed his legal and business acumen while practicing at two nationally prominent large law firms and as in-house counsel to a national homebuilder. Notably, Mr. Hopkins' experience includes: redevelopment, green-building, affordable housing development, transit-oriented development, condominium association formation and representation and returning contaminated properties, or "Brownfields," to beneficial use. Mr. Hopkins negotiates complex contractual arrangements associated with major development projects, such as purchase agreements, design and construction documents, risk allocation documents, and remediation contracts, with an eye towards "out of the box" transaction planning. He regularly appears before planning boards on land use applications. Additionally, he counsels clients on a variety of environmental regulatory compliance and permitting issues.
A native of New Jersey, Mr. Hopkins is a graduate of Cook College, Rutgers University where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors of Science in International Environmental Science. He received his Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School where he was a member of the National Environmental Law Moot Court team. Mr. Hopkins participates in a number of industry organizations including, but not limited to, the National Brownfield Association, the New Jersey Builders Association and the Justice Pollock Environmental Inn of Court. Lastly, Mr. Hopkins is active in the charitable community and serves on the board of a not-for-profit community development corporation which develops affordable housing for local residents.
Christopher Hopkins interviewed by Global Talk Radio on successfully managing the risks and exposures inherent to renewable energy projects located on contaminated property. Chris shares insight on how to manage risk management objectives of and ensures economic returns.
